Radiant Darkness
Persephone lives in the most gorgeous place in the world. But her mother's a goddess, as overprotective as she is powerful. Paradise has become a trap. Just when Persephone feels there's no chance of escaping the life that's been planned for her, a mysterious stranger arrives. A stranger who promises something more—something dangerous and exciting—something that spurs Persephone to make a daring choice. A choice that could destroy all she's come to love, even the earth itself. In a land where a singing river can make you forget your very name, Persephone is forced to discover who—and what—she really is.
This book was very different than the Percy Jackson books, which are the only other mythology books that I have read. I liked this one better. I think I prefer the narrator being female rather than male. I would have preferred more action in this story however. But all in all, I enjoyed Radiant Darkness. The chapters were each only a few pages long, which made it easy to put down and then pick up again. Oftentimes I only have a few minutes at a time to read, so this book was great for me to pick up and read a quick chapter or two. I am going to try to read more books by this author. I also am going to read more mythology related books too. I enjoy them. Next mythology retelling for me will be The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter. But first I am going to read Dirty Little Secrets by C.J. Omololu.
